Roofing and Waterproofing

In inverted roofing, the waterproofing membrane is covered and pro- tected by thermal insulation and the roof is finished with tiles or gravel. The membranes can also be used as an exposed final roof finish. In this case, the final exposed layer would be selected from a range of polymer modified membranes with an ultra-violet resistant surfacing of mineral granules or aluminum foil.

Waterproofing is generally confined to wet areas like bathrooms and Kitchens. The criterion in all cases is to prevent water penetration.

Tanking and Damp Proofing

Tanking addresses the need to prevent water from escaping a liquid containment area such as a water tank or swimming pool. It is also needed to prevent ground water under hydrostatic pressure from entering an underground structure such as a basement. Damp proofing generally deals with the protection of structures below ground from attack by aggressive ground salts.
